Gum Leaves and Tea

We have had no service the last couple of days so these posts will be somewhat delayed and disjointed.

The photos of the gum leaves are part of an addiction I have to gum leaves in all shapes and sizes. I always return from holidays with a bag full. No I don't eat them or brew them! These ones that I have picked out will become part of a series I am working on about the shapes these little insects or worms leave behind when they have finished their meal - it's exquisite...well at least to me it is, imagine these blown up in size on the canvas!

We camped in a very woody campsite last night...trees everywhere. Place is in Shannon National Park. But neither of us slept well so we are weary today as we travel home Last night we had to stoke a wood fired boiler to get a warm shower so we gave that a miss. We are looking forward to our own bathroom and toilet and our bed.

The photo of me on the sofa is our favorite tea stop...'Tea & Sympathy' in Bridgetown. Like an oasis in the desert. Out the back, they housed a 6000 plus toy soldier display of a number of famous on ground battles like Waterloo. Very interesting.... Now back on the road again. 260k to go....Oh! we just drove through a favorite town of mine called Ballingup.

  1. Hey Janet.....i have seen a lot of the gum leaves you have collected over the years....and enjoyed the art works u have created with them or been inspired by them.......however this sample of leaves reveals your increasing 'edginess'!!!! i look forward to seeing what u do with these way-less-than-perfect specimens. I guess i am an rather liike the angels in heaven who look on to see what God can create
    with twisted, broken, tattered people!!!!
