I'm sure I published this one but I found it in with my drafts so you might have it twice!
My phone battery is not fully charging on our new car adaptor so I have to keep my posts short and sweet before it dies on me. I should have bought my plug in charger. Dropped into Coral Bay for lunch and a stroll on the beach. It was so beautiful we didn't want to leave. White sand, sparkling clear water for swimming. The campsite was walking distance from the beach Felt like a tropical Island and perfect for snorkeling. You could also take boat trips out and snorkel with the whales but at $400 each we were not planning on doing that anyway. I wanted to stay, especially after one couple said it was better than Exmouth. They said Exmouth was more for Fishing. I was getting tired from traveling and feeling ready to settle someplace but we couldn't miss out on Exmouth now that we were so close. We needed to see what everybody was raving about!
We pushed on with our journey past hundreds of giant ant hills spread out over the land either side of the road and then we hit Exmouth. We thought we had arrived at 'the back end of Burke' wherever that is! We definitely drove through the surrounding areas of a very stark and ugly naval and air-force base. You should have seen the disappointment on Greg's face after driving hundreds of k's and I can't repeat what he said but he had me in fits of laughter! It was desolate and we asked at our campsite owners where the nearest beach was and the reception lady said 3k's away because the one that is 1k away is just a fisherman's beach! So we drove the 3k to take a look and truly, our Trigg beach only 10 mins from home was 100 times better than what we were looking at and there was nobody on the beach, or swimming in the water! So we looked at our map and asked a few questions only to find the snorkeling and bathing and 'Coral Bay' like beaches were on the opposite side of the peninsular and there are no campsites there and no short cut across. You have to drive 60 - 70k around the tip of the peninsular!
We set up the tent anyway and decided to stay a couple of nights in Exmouth while we check things out. So today Greg has gone off to explore 'the other side' 1 hour drive away and I'm relaxing with the birds and flies under the shady gum trees. The temperature is beautiful and I am figuring out what I could possibly wear in the campsite swimming pool that won't look as though I forgot to bring my bathers from home. I really hope Greg has a great time exploring and gets the chance to snorkel and most of all RELAX.
